Getting my ADHD child out of bed, dressed, fed and to school on time feels like running a marathon every single day. I'd love to hear from both parents and clinicians: what realistic strategies actually help with morning chaos?

Mornings can be one of the hardest parts of the day. Transitions, time pressure, and multiple steps overwhelm the ADHD brain. What helps most is reducing decision making. Lay out clothes the night before, use visual checklists, keep routines consistent, and build in buffer time. Gentle structure works better than repeated verbal reminders. Praise effort, not just speed. When mornings are calmer, the entire day tends to go better. It is less about strictness and more about predictable scaffolding.
